Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala observed the Swaccha Bharat Mission Programme in connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Ms. Sobha Mohan, former HOD, Sports Department of the school was the Chief guest. The Chief guest stressed the importance of cleanliness within and around us that lead to the making of a clean and prosperous nation. The formal launch of the programme was on August 3rd which marked the 25th anniversary of  the Maha Samadhi of Pujya Gurudev and many campaigns related to cleanliness were already in progress in the school campus since its launch. The concerted efforts taken by the students towards strengthening the Swaccha Bharat Mission on October 2nd found its expression in the morning assembly, in a pledge to keep the country clean, a skit emphasizing environmental awareness and breathing exercises to keep the body fit. The school also honoured Gandhiji's vision of 'Sanitation for all' through a demonstration on the correct method of doing handwash along with an awareness on recycling process to reduce waste accumulation. The school choir enthused all with a captivating rendering of the Swaccha Bharat song. A cycle rally was flagged off by the Chief guest Ms Sobha Mohan along with the Principal Ms. Prathiba V. The cyclists covered the neighbouring areas displaying placards on the theme of the day. The senior students contributed their mite wholeheartedly to the mass cleaning programme in school assisted by the juniors who planted saplings in the school compound. The day's activities spread rays of hope all around heralding an era of healthy changes both long-term and sustainable.
